Mossberg Sa20 review

A beast of gun the Mossberg Sa20 is a fun power house of a shotgun to shoot with out pumping. This bad boy comes in semi-auto and will hold five 2 3/4" shells or four 3" magnum shells.

My first outing with the Mossberg Sa20 was at an indoor range here in New York. The rules of the range limit rounds to slugs only so i did not get a chance to see any buck patterns.

Out the box the ghost ring rear and fiber optic front sight on the Mossberg Sa20 are dead on at 25 yards with 2 3/4" slugs I managed to empty the magazine tube at this range inside a 4" shoot n c target placed inside the head of a b target.

Recoil is less than a 12ga pump because its a 20ga and the semi-auto action also helps by using some of the generated force to cycle the weapon. Your shoulder also gets some rubber too. That being said this mother fucker still has a nice kick to it.

At about $460 the Mossberg Sa20 is a well built solid shotgun with a  semi-auto action for a steal of a price when compared to other shotguns in this class.

The trigger is crisp and breaks at around 5lbs.  The butt pad is made of rubber to help with recoil. Both the grip and forend are made of polymer which is stippled for rentention and both are fitted with a swivel stud for mounting a two point sling.

The charging handle is metal and has an ergonomic cone shape that makes it easy to operate for shooters of all hand sizes. Below the charging handle is the release button and the only way to take the bolt out of the locked position. The Mossberg Sa20 does stay locked open on the last round. When in a locked position the loading gate cannot be depressed.

The saftey is of a cross bolt design and is located to the rear of the trigger guard.

The Mossberg Sa20 is field stripped quite easily and requires no tools.

The weight of this gun is also a plus weighing at only 6lbs.

Things i dont like about the Mossberg Sa20:

1.) Low cheek rest.

2.) No forend rails for lights or v grips.

3.) And this mother fucker runs hot real quick or was it the crazy hot loads i was using ?

Overall the Mossberg Sa20 is a great muti-purpose shotgun if you want to skeet shoot, hunt or put bad guys on ice.

Hope this info was helpful. See the pics below:
