Gun Dealer Ads

The rest of the retail world has text based ads but not the gun world. Enter GDA. Gun Dealer Ads. A text based ad server much like adsense but targeted specifically to gun related ads.

I have a had them on my blog for some time now ( as a limited partner trial ) and I really like the way it works. The ads are smart ads that read the content of the page for keywords and display relevant ads based on whats in the network.

You can advertise on the GDA network for as low as $2 a week or $7 dollars a month. It's really easy to sign up for the ads and they accept payment via paypal.

Once your ad is reviewed and approved (only gun related ads will be approved) it will appear in the GDA network with in 24 hours. Gun Dealer Ads is a small ad network with only about a million page impressions a month.

But the ads work because they are relevant to guns and only display on gun sites.

Russian .380 acp Pistol with 3.5" Barrel

Harlem Man Shot 21 Times and Lives

Angel Alvarez, 23 was in a fight with another man pulled his pistol out and when the NYPD arrived to break up the fight, he pointed his gun at them,  they responded like they always do with 50 + rounds and he was hit 21 times. That was on Sunday and Mr. Alvarez is alive and kicking today. How is this possible ? I don't know....miracle, poor shot placement.

PISTOL SHOOTING: One Shot, One Kill ?

Some will argue that for self defense you should get the gun with biggest bullet that you can shoot accurately.   I tend to argree but I also think that shot placement takes precedense over caliber. Most CCW holders that I have encountered at the range seem to have no basics of non-shooting self defense techniques that will help them stop a threat quicker.   Things like your physical strength and basic self defense training ( hand to hand combat ) will help you survive a potentially lethal attack when using your pistol in close quarters.   Another area most seem to lack knowledge on is the physical anatomy of the human body and how shot placement can stop a threat quicker.   The average shooter trains to put shots in the thoracic cavity ( center mass ) of their assailant but don't factor in things like bullet weight, heavy clothing or if the assailant is using body armour.   I see head shots every now and then at the range but there is not real emphasis on where in the cranial cavity one should shoot to produce that " One Shot, One Stop " effect.   One such place you want to place a shot is the Medulla oblongata. The Medulla oblongata is the part of the brain that controls autonomic funtions and will stop an assailant cold in his tracks if destroyed by a bullet.   Your would be assailant will stopped cold to the point where they won't be able to perform any muscle function like flinch or pull a trigger.   The Medulla can be reached via lead, by shooting in the area below the eye brows and the start of the nose which on the average persons face you will have about a 3" ( from eye brow to end of nose ) x 5" ( from one corner of the eye to the next ) area to place your shot in.   This 3" x 5" area is not as big as the thoracic cavity (upper chest ) so to hit it you must practice, practice and pratice again. Hitting the Medulla is way more effective at producing what some coin as the " One Shot, One Kill " than a shot to thoracic cavity as paralasis is instant where as with the thoracic shot your your assailant may have 15 - 30 seconds more to get to you before they are stopped, typically called A.I.T or average incapacitation time. A.I.T may vary based on bullet weight and type.   Try getting your hands on a pack of Vital Area targets for practice. DCGP (www.dirtcheapgunparts.com ) sells the one the law enforcement officers use for training. Try hiting the medulla from different angles performing most your drills from the 7 - 15 yards range.   Practice doing rapid but accurate toracic cavity shots 1 or 2 followed by a slower timed shot the Medulla. Shots to the thoracic cavity will help to slow down your target and a shot to Medulla will just finish the Job. This technique is called the Mozambique Drill.

The Armed Citizen Website has been named in a lawsuit ? What a F**king Outrage !

Those of you who read my blog on regular basis will know I'm a big fan of The Armed Citizen website.   For those of you who don't know I will give you a brief overview of the site. The Armed Citizen is a blog about self defense stories from all over the USA. Most of the stories are sent to the blog owners by regular readers usually via an email with a link to the story.   The good folks over at The Armed Citizen will then compile re-publish all the stories on their blog giving the actual source full credit with a link back to the orginal source of the store I.E the news source website that intially published the story.   As a CCW holder myself I like to hear stories of law abiding citizens defending fighting against the tyranny of the world, so I like many others subscribed to their blog and read The Armed Citizen on a daily basis.   Well they recently stopped blogging because they were named in a lawsuit by one such news source and now they need our help in fending off another type of tyranny, the big corporations that pick on the little guy.   An update on The Armed Citizen site indicates they intend to fight the suit and they need your support. Got my TAURUS TCP today

I picked up my new Taurus TCP today from my local gun range. Bought it online and had it shipped there. The transfer fee was $35. I'm very happy with it the gun is really small and conceals well in my pocket holster.

The Taurus TCP came with 2 magazines and a Bulldog Cell phone " looking " case to carry it concealed on your side.

I opted to get a nice pocket holster from DCGP ( wwww.dirtcheapgunparts.com ) that holds the magazine and and the gun in my pocket and is easy to draw from.

I also order some ammo, but that's for a next post when I shoot this little beauty.

Conneticut Shooting : More innocents die in a " gun free zone "

Yesterday a disgruntled worker in Manchester, Connecticut opened fire at his place of employment killing 8 and then himself.   A very sad incident indeed but not unique, Americans are no strangers to mass shootings in the last decade they have happened almost every year.   What I find very strange is that we don't seem to have any kind of plan to deal with these mass shootings and it's almost always too late when the police get there.   This guy was able to kill 8 people before the cops closed in and he took his own life. Had there been a sheepdog ( CCW permit holder with a gun ) he may have been stopped a lot quicker but we can't bring our guns to work, as with school, the post office etc because they are deemed gun free zones.   Perps know this and they always seem to carry out their rampages in places where it is more likely someone will not have a gun.   This is a flawed system that needs to be changed. Gun Free seems to mean " Killing Spree ".   The killer had said that he was being racially harassed at the job and it was not addressed. Whether this is true or not thats no reason to go murder your co-workers. He could have taken other measures. But he was probably mentally unstable and this pushed him over the edge.   If the racial harassment claims are proven and it was not addressed then the employer and union may have a sand storm coming their way.   My heart goes out to the family of victims and I hope that some how we can figure out a way to stop these shooting sprees. They are happening way too often.

Pocket Pistols: Whats your Flavor ?

With the Ruger LCP taking the role as highest selling pistol for 2009. All the gun makers are coming out with pocket pistols chambered for the .380 acp round. The top seller is still the Ruger LCP with over 1 million LCP pistols sold, but hot on it's heels is the Taurus TCP. Taurus made a nice move by offering the TCP in Pink to target female customers (or men who like pink guns ) and local gun shops have told me they can't sell enough of them. Ruger now also has decided to add more color to the LCP and is now offering them in OD Green.

Just got back from seeing SALT staring Angelina Jolie with my wife....this movie sucks...confusing plot and limp on the gun play. Don't waist your time. Wait for it to get to Netflix which by what i saw won't be too long.

Got it from the good guys over at BudsGunShop.com . $264 shipped and I can't wait shoot it. I have heard a lot of good things about the TCP and unlike other Taurus Guns it's made in America.

I looked at the Ruger LCP, Kel-TEC 3AT and the Taurus TCP had the best features of the bunch for a pocket pistol.

Things like the Slide locks back on the last round, Biggest Trigger Guard and coming with 2 mags all played into my decision.

Soon as I get it I will report on how this little pocket gun shoots.

I ordered some cool accessories too for it from the guys over at Dirt Cheap Gun Parts they have a nice little section of the site for the Taurus TCP and I picked up a cool holster for it and will go back later to get the Crimson Trace laser for the Taurus TCP.
